Who we are

Unite the People is a major new city-wide initiative bringing Birmingham and the West Midland’s diverse communities together through education, culture, and activism. The movement aims to build long-term unity and challenge racism through democratic, inclusive, and creative collaboration.

Our vision is simple but powerful: a city where diversity is not feared but valued and where there is no place for hate or racism. We believe diversity is a strength that enriches everyone and we celebrate our multi-cultural and multi-faith region.

What We Do

Throughout the year, we meet on Mondays every fortnight at the BRIG Café from 7-9pm to hear well-known speakers, and work together on different events. Our events create spaces where people from different backgrounds can meet, share, and connect. Join the mailing list for details.

Our Youth Group is creating a network for young creatives, activists and students. Find them on Instagram.

In September 2026, we will host our first annual festival, bringing together artists from a wide range of cultural heritage and artistic genres. The festival will showcase Birmingham’s rich creative talent and show the power of culture to unite communities. From 2027 onwards the festival will be on the closest weekend to May Day - the internationally recognised day of solidarity and celebration of the labour movement and workers’ many achievements.

Say no to racism and hate, and yes to solidarity, respect, and unity. Join Unite the People at our meetings, events, and activities. Get involved, share your voice, and help us build a city we can be even more proud of—together.
